Events have brought us a very current topic for discussion - the demise of the Ann Arbor News, and what it means for journalism (and for writers) in our fair city. As described on the Ann Arbor Chronicle, the News will cease publication in July. Meanwhile, a successor publication is in the works. AnnArbor.com will be mostly an online publication, but will have a print edition on Thursdays and Sundays. (My guess - these are when the most advertising opportunities exist, including legal notices.) Check out the video by the new editor, Tony Dearing.
According to an interview by Jim Carty, a former News staffer, the new editor expects to hire writers. Check out the full-time and part-time salaries being mentioned.
